Alexis Swimwear: Fabulous in Ruffles

Need a bikini hot enough to melt the snowcaps of Mount Kilimanjaro?

Take a look at this beauty — an exotic two-piece swimsuit from the Alexis Swimwear collection, featuring sexy tribal and primal influences.

Yes, there’s something instinctively alluring about this hot little swimsuit number. And that makes the contrast of all those soft, sweet frills such a pleasant surprise.

This floral Triangle bikini is an adjustable slider top, edged in delicate, feminine ruffles that gently frame the bust for a flattering effect.

And more romantic ruffles frame the bikini around the waist and flounce delicately around the hips, making this beautiful bikini extremely relevant, especially since ruffles are making a major fashion statement vogue this summer.

We love this swimsuit from Miami designer Alexis Barbara because it oozes sex appeal while exuding feminine qualities at the same time.

Betsey Johnson's Saloon Bikini

We couldn’t take our eyes off this Betsey Johnson stunner of a bikini from the swimwear designer’s 2009 collection.

We were at the Miami Swim Show last July for a first-hand look at Betsey Johnson’s newest swimwear pieces… and we were delighted with what we saw.

The model is sporting a sassy, borque print saloon bra bikini. The bikini bra is well constructed halter with an underwire for support.

And with Betsey Johnson, the devil is always in the details — the bikini top is edged with tiny ruffles to give it that sexy “bar saloon” look.

You can swap out the bikini hipster bottom for a same-print skirtini, or pair it with the soft-print white one (shown on the left). You can also wear one of those exquisite cover-ups over your bikini or as a stand-alone summer dress.

Salinas Sets the trend for 2009

When it comes to cutting-edge, high-fashion swimwear with a playful twist, fashionistas and celebrities alike count on Salinas for the hottest swimwear designs in the industry.

This summer at the Miami Swimwear Show in July, we got a bird’s eye view of Salina’s stylish swimsuit fashions that likely set the trend here in sexy South Beach and at other metropolitan beach destinations around the globe.

We’re excited about the Salinas 2009 Collection! The brand has gotten back to a theme of youthful, bright prints with a lot of detail. The feel is young yet Sophisticated at the same time.

While incorporating new elements, Salinas stays true to their signature styles — creating hip, mismatchy and in-the-moment suits that embody the perfect blend of upscale chicness.

Swimwear Trend: Exotic Florals

Remember those Floridian floral prints of yesteryear… somewhat reminiscent of your grandma’s favorite house dress? Yes, those vintage prints were once gaudy, but now they’ve undergone an extreme makeover and are making a comeback in swimwear fashion.

The trend is being set… when it comes to designer swimwear, exotic floral prints of the bohemian-chic kind are officially what’s in for 2009.

Look for swimwear in a variety of hippie-inspired and ethnic “flower child” themes from the 60′s other retro motifs from designers like Red Carter and Salinas.

At the 2009 Swimwear Show in Miami, we saw this fabulous look first-hand at our appointment with Luli Fama. Both models are sporting vibrant, multi-colored bikinis from the “Encanto” line that feature cool patchwork and quilt-print designs for a hippie look.

To the left is a spicy, crystalyzed and ring Triangle top with matching tie sides. On the right is a sizzling halter top featuring an attractive ring-shaped detail in the center with a hipster bottom.

You can’t go wrong with this swimwear fashion trend. As long as the floral print has a retro feel to it, you’re in good shape. Then mix-n-match vintage Floral bikini tops with striped bottoms (and visa versa) and head to South Beach.
